Paros tries for many years to make tha Ancient Quarries of Marathi open to public. Is the fisrt monument of Paros and this is where the ancient Marbles used to come from. Lignitis was used by many famous sculptue artists of the era such as Praxitellis.

The ancient marble does not exist anymore but the history is there and it does worth the effort to visit the ancient quarries of Paros and see with your own eyes how they exported in to provide it to the rest of the world.

In just a bit here, you should see and realise the history of this island and it marble. Most of the artifacts in the Acropolis Museum comes from Parian Marble! And just when you thought we were done, we’re going to do them all over again with more photos!
